Bureaucracy is becoming a major obstacle for orienteers using city parks. Followers of the niche sport are facing increasingly stricter regulations imposed on their casual summer events by the Auckland Council. Hundreds of people attend the Auckland Orienteering Club's summer event series running through areas including the Auckland Domain and Cornwall Park.
