Racurs Photomod Version 4.4 features a new ground control point survey module, basic GPS support for navigation, 3D objects exporting to AutoCAD and distributed processing for fast orthomosaicking. It also offers direct input of GPS data and any georeferenced rasters, new tools for background processing for the orthomosaicking and pan-sharpening improvements.

Encom has released version 4.0 of Discover 3D for MapInfo Professional. Additions include new analysis and editing tools for drillholes, boundaries, surfaces, and solids. The company says it also now offers a ‘3D data-immersion experience’, with boosted 3D graphics performance. The application is for geoscientists working with 3D data.

Cadcorp in the UK has released a new version of its mSIS software. mSIS is a field data capture application for the Pocket PC platform. It is supplied in two parts: a desktop based project management package called mSIS Office and the Pocket PC based data capture software called mSIS Mobile.

Virtual Geomatics is releasing an ArcGIS version of its VG4D Data Manager product at the ESRI User Conference in California this month. It is also now shipping version 2.0 of its VG4D suite and has released its VG4D Viewer, a free 3D laser scanner viewing application.

GeoSpatial Experts’ has released GPS-Photo Link 4.2. Ssers can now generate printable reports of their photomapping projects. According to the company, the software includes enhanced projection and datum conversion routines for every state in US. It can make the conversion from latitude/longitude and attach the new coordinates to the watermark in each image upon request.

The new extension permits users to read and write NITF data within the ArcGIS Desktop 9.3 environment. The extension has been registered for certification at complexity level 7 for NITF 2.1 and complexity level 6 for NITF 2.0.

SP1 provides specific support for the NCDRD rigorous model format. WorldView-1 is a panchromatic imaging satellite featuring half-metre resolution imagery. It is owned and operated by Digital Globe.

ESRI's new ArcGIS version, 9.3, is now out. It supports Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and PostgreSQL and a new image service. Other enhancements include a new Disperse Markers tool to spread out representation markers when they coincide. The new ArcGIS Mobile application has been designed to deploy mobile GIS. Modelling tools have also been enhanced, notes the company. In addition, a new vehicle routing problem solver in ArcGIS Network Analyst generates routes for fleets of vehicles.
