After the closure of NZTopoOnline, I saw a need to provide fast and easy access to NZ Topographic maps. Now forgive me for not using Open Street Map but I've just put together http://www.nztopomaps.com for easy access to the excellent resource that is the NZTopo maps. The idea came into my head when my grandfather, who is a very keen tramper and associated with Pioneer Trampers Club in Christchurch, asked me about access to "maps". I simply expected to do a Google search and find several mapping websites serving topo maps but there were none.

PCI Geomatics has announced the release of GeoImaging Tools for ArcGIS®, version 2.0. The release coincides and integrates directly within ESRI’s recently released ArcGIS version 10 software. With the GeoImaging Tools Image Correction Module, ArcGIS users will benefit from rigorous, automated multi-sensor support and be able to correct raw imagery using sensor model information, optionally with automatic GCPs and tie points from reference data such as chip databases, reference mosaics, or vectors. Higher levels of registration accuracy are achievable via block bundle adjustments. Users also have the option of saving the correction parameters and create mosaic datasets for direct use with ArcGIS for on-the-fly processing reducing data duplication.

Recently the new version 4.5.0 of the Linux-Desktop KDE has been published. The digital Globe "Marble" that is part of the KDE distribution has now route planning functionality. ORS was the first cross-national routing service using the user generated geodata by OpenStreetMap and offers a large set of options. This means that ORS is the routing service behind the third digital globe application; the others being the OpenGIS Web 3D Service (W3DS) Client 'XNavigator' in http://OSM-3D.org and the Java Version of NASA World Wind. Marble can be downloaded for several operating systems such as Linux, Windows and MacOS.

Following the successful release of the X200 full two-dimensional machine guidance system in March of this year, X300 provides real-time three-dimensional visual feedback to the operator on the position of the bucket teeth relative to a design grade surface. X300 will also function in a full two-dimensional mode when jobs do not require a three-dimensional design file. ‘Design Grade on site’ features offered through the touch screen interface conveniently guide the operator through two-dimensional jobs. Even the smallest contractor will realize the benefits of higher productivity, increased safety, and a quick return on investment.
