India Plans Launch of Dedicated Forestry Satellite

The Union Minister for Environment and Forest announced that the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) plans to launch a dedicated forestry satellite in 2013. The announcement came at the inauguration of the Indian Climate Observatory Network (ICON) at the National Atmospheric Research Laboratory (NARL) campus. Mr. Ramesh called the satellite a major afforestation initiative and a key player in tackling climate change issues.
