Geoeye-1 is eagerly awaited. It is the first of a new generation of satellites designed for commercial use since it became clear that security agencies in the US would countenance a more or less free market for sub-metre imagery.

This is part of the first image from GeoEye-1. The resolution is claimed to be better than 500 mm at nadir.

Geoeye imagery is being distributed in the region by AAMHatch in Brisbane, Beijing Earth Observation, Genesis Software in Colombo, Japan Space Imaging in Tokyo, MonMap in Ulan Bator, NTData in Tokyo, Pacific GenPro in Taipei, RFI Technology in Taipei, Sathya Technology in India, Spot Asia in Singapore and WAI Corporate in Korea.

It is available online via Google.
