A new site has been established to use Google Earth to publish thematic maps. The Earth Atlas was created by Bjorn Sandvik in Norway. It uses the Google Earth API and ExtJS Library to create thematic maps using different colours or icons.

The site contains UN data on global age distribution, AIDS, CO2 consumption and other subjects.

The data can also be displayed on Google Maps.

The work is part of a MSc thesis called Using KML for Themtic Mapping.
