The agreement follows a similar agreement between Geoeye and Google, under which imagery from the Geoeye-1 satellite will be used to populate Google Earth.
Under the terms of the agreement, Microsoft will have access to DigitalGlobe’s ImageLibrary, which contains over 460 million square kilometers of Earth imagery, as well as new images being collected every day by its two satellites.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
DigitalGlobe currently operates QuickBird and the first of two next-generation satellites, WorldView-1. The company plans to launch its third satellite, WorldView-2, in the third quarter of 2009.
