Pitney Bowes Business Insight

Wednesday 04 Jun 2008

The new name for the software division of Pitney Bowes is Pitney Bowes Business Insight. It consists of all the software acquisitions made by Pitney Bowes since 2000, including MapInfo Inc, Group One Software, GDC in the UK, Axiom GIS (France) andf Encom (Australia).

The result is a major new force in the market. Based on the last turnover of all these companies, PBBI is a $500 million company and one of the top 100 IT companies in the world.

Mike Hickey, the president of PBBI, said an official announcement would be made later in the year, when new product branding and marketing activities will begin.

Some 60 per cent of the business is location intelligence. Mailing Efficiency and Customer Communications Management make up 15 per cent each. Customer Data Qualty accounts for the remaining 10 per cent.

Geographically, about 60 per cent of the business is located in the Americas. The remainder is spread around the world. Asia is the fastest growing region. Pitney Bowes Asia Pacific headquarters is in Singapore, but PBBI Asia-Pac will be in Sydney, using the existing MapInfo Asia Pacific corporate infrastructure.

PBBI will make a global attack on the market for natural resources information systems using Encom technology, said Hickey.
