Professor Gerhard Schmitt is the man Singapore has charged with making it one of the most modern, sustainable cities on the planet. The pioneer architect heads the Singapore Future Cities Laboratory, a tie-up between NUS and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, or ETH, in Zurich, which also incorporates the Centre for Global Environmental Sustainability.
