China Launches Remote-sensing Satellite

China on Monday launched a high-resolution remote-sensing satellite for civilian use from its Taiyuan Satellite Launch Centre in Shanxi province. According to a statement from the centre, the satellite - Ziyuan III satellite - is tasked with offering services to aid the country's land-resources surveys, natural-disaster prevention, agriculture development, water-resources management, and urban planning.
