Singapore-based and government-backed DES Mapping Solutions offers a data appliance to deliver satellite imagery, digital terrain models, and other base data in a new way. The data appliance makes the data available for applications for an annual subscription fee, but doesn't allow the client to take out the data. The new data appliance fits somewhere between a network appliance and cloud-based services.
