The Department of Water says it is using three years of research to allocate more groundwater to meet the Pilbara's growing requirements. The department's Hamid Mohsenzadeh says it is using targeted scientific investigations to build knowledge of the area's groundwater system. Mr Mohsenzadeh says the research helps gauge water availability, as well as give a preliminary assessment of the potential for the West Canning Basin.
