Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has appointed Bill Jones as RICS ASEAN Director, who will commence duty on 31 October, 2011 and be based in Singapore. The new Director is responsible for developing and delivering the ASEAN Business Plan together with the Local Members Boards / Committees. This includes actively promoting adoption of RICS standards and qualifications across ASEAN, the achievement of membership growth and retention targets. It is hoped that the new director can promote the RICS brand and forge strong relationship with employers, governments and end-users of surveying services across ASEAN countries and to increase commercial income opportunities.

Darren Jensen, RICS Asia Director said, "Bill is a great addition to the RICS team. Bill became the inaugural Chairman of RICS Singapore Working Group in 2008. He has been a Member of the RICS since 1986, and was also a member of the RICS Asia Board during 2009-2011. Bill has an excellent understanding of RICS and the role of Chartered Surveying in the region."

Originally designated as a Chartered Valuation Surveyor in 1986 whilst working for Sutcliffe & Co in the North West of England, Bill was a member of the North West England & Isle of Man Branch. Since 2002, he has been working for Royal Dutch Shell Plc in a variety of roles in Corporate Real Estate and Retail real estate, and from 2006 to 2010 he was based in Singapore, working on a number of Real Estate projects for Shell across the Asia Pacific region. Most recently he has been working for CBRE on the Shell account.
