Taiwan President Unveils New Massive Infrastructure Plan

President Ma Ying-jeou unveiled Wednesday a large-scale infrastructure plan targeting roads, railways, water treatment systems and broadband Internet connection to increase Taiwan's competitiveness. The plan would also make the country a more attractive and convenient place for international investment, said Ma, who is seeking a second term in office in next year's Jan. 14 presidential election. In a 15-minute speech, the president said Taiwan needs to renew its infrastructure, which, according to him, received its last comprehensive upgrade in the 1970s. Read More
