Forest Department in India Plants New System to Monitor Fauna

The forest department, which is grappling with staff shortage, has come up with a new system to keep vigil on forest and wildlife through the Geographic Information System (GIS). Encouraged with the success of software, which was developed by the Madhya Pradesh forest department, six more states of India, including Gujarat, Kerala, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, UP, J&K and Himachal have asked the state forest department to educate them on the system.
