Gyro-Shot - Gyroscopically-oriented Borehole Survey Tool

The Gyro Shot uses the latest nano-technology to deliver accurate surveys in a surprisingly rugged package. Surveys are run much like with a magnetic multishot tool – the instrument is moved through the borehole and stopped at intervals to take static readings of inclination. The Gyro Shot® can be raised and lowered using a wireline/slickline, or by travelling with the drill string.

When the instrument is brought to the surface, data are downloaded to a ruggedized tablet computer (supplied with the instrument) and can be processed immediately.

The Gyro Shot® also contains a magnetometer. This magnetometer can be used to measure azimuth independently, or it can be used as a borehole magnetometer with full vector capability. Average power consumption of the instrument is 200mW, which permits long-term operation in a thermal shield, should the application require this. Read More
