Mr. M. Shahzad Sarfraz (Malik), PhD student from RSGIS, AIT Thailand attended 2011 ProSPER.NET Young Researchers’ School held in Hosei university Tokyo from 1-12 August under the theme ‘Learning from Japan’s experiences on urban sustainability’ funded by United Nations University-Institute of Advanced Studies and International Bureau of the BMBM.

ProSPER.NET hold a thesis competition among sixteen Ph.D. candidates representing (Asian Institute of Technology Thailand, The University of Stellenbosch South Africa, University of Cape Town South Africa, Chinese Academy of Science China, Tongji University China, RMIT Australia, TERI University India, University of South Pacific Fiji, Hosei University Japan, Nagoya University Japan and University of Tokyo Japan). Mr. Malik from RSIGS under supervision of Dr. Nitin Kumar Tripathi got 3rd position in the competition. Competition was held in three different rounds (first, semifinal and final) and judges from different universities respectively.

They judged the communication skills, involvement to audience and research importance for society. Final round was held at headquarter of United Nation University and more than six undergraduate universities (Japan, Indonesia, India) students come to attend the forum and vote was casted by all audience.
