Push to Cut Drowning Rates in Asia

Drowning is the leading killer of children over the age of one in many Asian countries, an Australian Royal Life Saving Society study has found. Mapping of deaths in Bangladesh, Thailand and Vietnam show most children die within 10 metres of their homes, in cooking pots or nearby waterways. Australian life-saving strategies have been rolled out through aid organisations and have helped cut drowning rates by up to 80 per cent. Read More
