Proper implementation of zoning ordinances, comprehensive land use plans that are resistant to climate change and disaster, as well as protected environmental resources are among the essential factors for sustainable development , as highlighted during the 3rd Land Use Forum held yesterday, May 5 at the University of the Philippines, Tacloban Campus.

With the theme,” Zoning Ordinance: Significance to sustainable Land Use and Development”, the forum was participated in by Leyte’s local planners and legislators, land use regulators, members of the academe and some civil society organizations.

The event greatly emphasized the vital role of zoning ordinance in land use planning and implementation, so as to sustainably manage natural resources from forests to seas, with serious consideration for climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction & management at the local levels.
