Delhi Passes Bill to Make GIS Central to Planning

The Delhi Assembly has just passed a bill that will centralize GIS and spatial data, and make geospatial technology central to all planning, utility services and infrastructure development in the state of Delhi, India. The Delhi Geo-spatial Data Infrastructure (Management, Control, Administration, Security and Safety) Bill, 2011 received unanimous approval, and it follows a bill passed late last year that set up a central spatial data infrastructure for the state, firmly placing the Delhi at the forefront of geospatial technology integration.
