Qatar's Geographic Information System 'most advanced in the world'

The Arabian state of Qatar can boast one of the most advanced geographic information systems (GIS) in the world, thanks to the state development of a Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS) network. The system was set up by the Ministry of Municipality & Urban Planning with the use of receivers, antennas, high-precision tilt sensors, and GNSS Spider software from Leica Geosystems. The high-tech surveying equipment delivers supremely accurate data and comprehensive customer services. It allows the network to play a major role in all geodetic and topographic surveys to update Qatar's map system and also integrate collected GIS data into the common nationwide GIS database.
