Asian Surveying and Mapping became part of Vector1 Media in January of 2010. Vector1 Media has been created by experienced and seasoned editorial staff.

Jeff Thurston holds a Master of Science Degree in Geographic Information Science from Manchester Metropolitan University, UK and graduated in Forest Technology from Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Canada. Jeff also graduated with an Advanced Diploma in Geographic Information Systems (UNIGIS) from Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, Canada. Previously, Jeff worked at the University of Alberta located in Edmonton, Canada where he managed research facilities for inter-disciplinary research projects and long-term field research. He taught surveying, GIS and GPS at the university in the undergraduate program and was involved in international online course development and delivery. Jeff has also reviewed many technologies for leading manufacturers, conducted book reviews and has been invited to speak about spatial technologies.

Matt Ball has a bachelor's degree in Journalism from Miami University, and earned a magazine publishing diploma from New York University. Matt worked for GeoTec Media for ten years in the capacity of editor-in-chief of GeoWorld magazine for seven years, and as the manager of all aspects of the GeoTec Event, Canada's largest geospatial industry event. He steered GeoTec Media into the book publishing business, editing and compiling two volumes. Prior to that he was in charge of marketing and exhibit sales for the Geological Society of America’s annual meeting.
